Are remould tyres cheaper?
A remould tyre is a tyre which is made out of an old tyre when its tread has basically worn down, the basic structure of the tyre in these cases is usually sound. The preparation of these tyres usually involves stripping away the tread of the old tyre. Any good garage will usually advise against the fitting of a remould tyre or second hand tyre as they are not considered as safe as a good tyre.
Tyres are truly important when it comes to your car, firstly for safety but there are some other key factors in all of this, which are:
· The breaking distance – if you have a tyre which is balding or is not correctly inflated then you will find that this will effect the breaking distance of a car, because both of these factors impact on the amount of grip that your cars wheels will have upon the roads surface. As we all know braking distance is important when it comes to any sort of driving but ultimately a case of life or death if you need to brake on the fast lane of the motorway.
· You may find this a little difficult to believe, but your tyres can actually impact on your fuel economy. If your car has lower than recommended tyre pressure then more fuel has to be burned in order to keep it moving, meaning that you get fewer miles out of your car per gallon.
· Good tyres are required when gripping on the roads surface, especially when it comes to bends it is important to have both good tyres and good tyre pressure.
· If you are thinking of driving in wet weather, than the better the tyre the less likely you are to skid.
When it comes to buying your tyres, then you will need to know the type of tyre that is on your car at present, you will find out the information for this if you look on the side of your tyre, there will be a number and this should be quoted when purchasing a tyre.
